Funding Requests
Getting it Down on Paper
To initiate a funding request, applicants should provide a proposal with the following information:

- A description of the organization and its objectives;
- A list of Battelle staff members who are active in the organization, as well as a list of the officers, directors or trustees;
- The specific purpose of the request and the amount requested from Battelle (if appropriate, please present your total request in increments or by alternatives, indicating priorities, and provide the cost of each);
- A list of other funding sources (e.g., foundations, corporations) and the amounts received; and
- A discussion of efforts to memorialize the Battelle name and to publicize distribution of Battelle funds to your organization.
Requests for funding should be submitted to Battelle through official channels of the requesting organization. All requests for funding must include a signed and dated (current year date) copy of the organization's federal W-9 form. If appropriate,the organization's Internal Revenue Service 501[c][3] letter should also be included.
Proposals may be submitted via a traditional, hard-copy proposal, but electronic proposals also will be accepted if they are created in a way that clearly and officially represents the organization, e.g., a logo or similar format that contains the name and contact information normally included on letterhead stationery. Documents may be scanned in JPG, GIF or TIF format, or be created with commonly used software such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint. At this time, we cannot accommodate documents in DVD format. As with a proposal submitted in non-electronic format, each must include a W-9 form with a signature and a current-year date. The organization's 501[c][3] tax-exempt certification should also be included if appropriate. Should the organization use electronic documents to request a corporate contribution, they may be provided to Battelle on a diskette to the mailing address or via e-mail.
