Team Battelle at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Team Battelle is a staff driven, decentralized volunteer program that has been at PNNL since 1998. From its inception, the program has grown from an initial 19 projects during the first year to more than 76 projects that staff members support today. PNNL staff members donate their time and money to support local community programs. In 2008, 1800 volunteers contributed over 21,000 volunteer hours to various projects, including gathering coats to keep area children warm through the winter, finding loving homes for pets, supporting our troops abroad and when they return, raising money for research for Alzheimer, Cancer, MS, and Diabetes, and saving lives through our numerous blood drives held at PNNL over the years.
Over the past year, volunteers have been honored in a number of ways for their unique and outstanding contributions on Team Battelle projects. Some of the most notable include: Robin Conger (PNNL), recipient of the Junior Achievement Award for 2009; Doug Wright (PNNL) awarded the Mentor of the Year for his work with the Boys and Girls Club, and Ted Poston honored with the 2009 Community Spirit Award for his years of service to Team Battelle. The entire Team Battelle was recognized with the Benton-Franklin Volunteer Center’s 2009 Golden Heart Award for Outstanding Group of Volunteers. Listed below are additional projects worth mentioning for their exceptional service to the Tri-Cities community.
- March of Dimes Walk: 50 walkers raised over $11,000
